THE HILL | HISTORY
Mont Farlagne began operations in January 1969 under the direction of Edmundston Ski Ltd. The hill was built on land owned by the family of its first president, Judge Robert Rice qc. Before its official opening, many steps had been taken to establish the ski hill. Construction had begun in the fall of 1968 following a fundraising campaign in the community. At that time, the trails, lift and lodge had begun to take shape. When Mont Farlagne opened it had four trails: Family, Rice, Casse-Cou and Fraser. The latter was the only one lit for night skiing.

To maintain a steady source of income, Edmundston Ski and Country Club was founded in 1969 and operated until 1984. During these early years, its main activity was the Bar, and around it some activities – including races- were organized. The memberships for the bar were very important revenue for the hill and its status among the community was renowned. As for skiing, in its first year of operation a lift ticket cost $ 8.00 for adults and $ 6.00 for students, the year membership for skiing was $ 110.00.

The bar license was reverted to Edmundston Ski Ltd in the late 70’s. From then on, this administration became responsible for organizing all the social activities surrounding the hill, including the ever popular tube races of the early 80’s.

THE NEW MONT FARLAGNE

The mountain was bought in the spring of 2004 by Mr. Jacques Gallant, his wife Jeanne-d’Arc and their children Vicky, James and Ben. They restored the hill to its original splendor. Mont-Farlagne is back after a successful first year. Over 2000 seasons passes were sold and over 50,000 visitors for the 2007-2008 seasons.

2008-2009 will be a special year. Mont Farlagne will celebrate its 40 years of operation! Be with us for this memorable season. After all Mont Farlagne –it’s more than a mountain!
