THE HILL | TIMELINE
Mont Farlagne began operations in January 1969 under the direction of Edmundston Ski Ltd. The hill was built on land owned by the family of its first president, Judge Robert Rice qc. Before its official opening, many steps had been taken to establish the ski hill. Construction had begun in the fall of 1968 following a fundraising campaign in the community. At that time, the trails, lift and lodge had begun to take shape.

Mont Farlagne officialy opens with 4 trails: Couturier, Rice, Casse-Cou and Fraser. This last trail was also open for night skiing.

Night skiing was added on Family and Rice trails. A pony lift was added at the top of the mountain to make access to Expert trail easier. A Bombardier 501 groomer was purchased.

The main lodge was renovated.

A Bombardier 302 groomer was purchased.

We added a double chairlift and 5 new trails : Capri, Demi-Lune, Pentapic, Bon Voyage and La Brayonne which was lit for night skiing.

A Bombardier BR400 groomer was purchased.

The main lodge was expanded and renovated.

We introduced the quad chairs and artificial snowmaking machines. We also added the République trail.

Edmundston Ski Ltd went bankrupt due to accumulated debts and lack of working capital. The mountain was bought by Mr. Jean-Yves St-Onge who kept it in operation for five seasons. Unfortunately, the cost of operating a ski hill became too much for the entrepreneur who had to shut it down for the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 seasons.

The mountain was bought in the spring of 2004 by Mr. Jacques Gallant, his wife Jeanne-d’Arc and their children Vicky, James and Ben. They plan on bringing the hill back to its original splendor and expect many family gatherings. This NEW Mont Farlagne is set to open in 2004-2005 and be bigger and better than ever! After all Mont Farlagne – it’s more than a mountain!

Two new trails are added to our mountain. First, a new glade skiing trail is added between to Pente à Jim and the Demi-Lune trails. Also, in rememberance to Jacques Gallant, a trail named "Le passage à Jacques" is added between the Pente à Jim and the Brayonne.

Mont Farlagne is celebrating its 40 years of operation. Buy your season pass and make sure you are there for the big celebrations!
